Somatic Digital Announces Publishing Technologies and Services

Print and Digital Content Owners Can Build Interactive Business Around eTouchBook™ Technology

CINCINNATI, OH. (PRNewswire) – June 5, 2008 – Somatic Digital announces its eTouchBook Suite™ of hardware and software tools for publishers. The eTouchBook™ makes regular printed pages behave as portable touch screens.

When the reader of a regular printed page with an eTouchBook platform touches the page, the reader is connected to a computer to retrieve and present digital content or launch communication applications.

Now, the printed page can be a portal to the digital world. The eTouchBook creates a new ecosystem of transactions, analytics, and interactivity in a medium that is often ignored in the digital era – printed pages.

Printed materials from comic books to cook books; from training manuals to magazines, are now capable of linking directly to supplementary digital materials like videos, audio, and web pages. Publishing areas that may benefit from this new hybrid medium are education, catalog, magazine, self-help, government, newspaper, book and gaming publishers. However, any publisher can use the technology or entrepreneur to create interactive printed pages.

With analytics derived from TouchThrough™ transactions, advertisers can measure the return on investment (ROI) for their print ads. TouchThroughs are to the printed page what Click-Throughs are to a webpage.

Publishers, authors, and content owners gain access to the eTouchBook and tools by joining the Partner Program. Membership also includes a non-exclusive licensing agreement to the award-winning Touch User Interface (TUI) technology. The TUI is embedded in the turnkey eTouchBook Suite. Licensees are free to use the TUI technology intellectual property as they wish, so long as they agree to allow Somatic Digital to capture the interactive data.

Jason E. Barkeloo, Founder & President explains, "The eTouchBook Suite enables anyone to build printed interactive materials. Imagine creating a printed training manual, uploading training videos to YouTube™, then sending the printed manual to remote employees who simply touch the pages to retrieve the videos and present them on a computer.” Barkeloo adds, “Later, the Training Manager gets a report of the interactivity.”

Somatic Digital also unveiled its Certification Program. As part of this announcement, Somatic Digital is offering a Certification Program, Monday, 28 July 2008, free-of-charge to all Licensees. The non-Partner Program member fee is $395.00. Seating priority goes to Partner Program members based upon their order of registration.

Barkeloo concludes, "Early market feedback about enabling anyone to inexpensively create and monetize their own eTouchBook-based products is very promising. Our Partner Program members can monetize market demand by providing and owning additional distribution channels.”
