David A. Krauth

VP, Software Engineering

David Krauth started programming in the early 1980's on an original Commodore 64 and has been hooked ever since. He has been working professionally as a software developer since 1995 and has experience in all phases of the software development life-cycle.

Prior to working with Somatic Digital, David was a member of the Visual Studio development team at Microsoft. Previously he gained invaluable XML and SOAP skills working on Microsoft's UDDI v3 implementation. Before this, David was a member of the Ballistic Missile Range Safety Technology development program at Honeywell Space. Earlier in his career he worked in IBM's Global Network Services.

David's programming experience spans numerous languages (C, C++, C#, Lisp, and Pascal to name a few) and platforms (Macintosh, Windows, Unix). Since 2000 David has been an evangelist for Python, an object-oriented language he embraced while porting the base source code of the interpreter to the embedded world.

David attended the University of Florida, studying computer science. While in college, he won the 1993 Florida Collegiate Chess Championship. Before college, he served in the US Army, fulfilling his 3 year enlistment as a Cavalry reconnaissance specialist while stationed in Bamberg, Germany.

An experienced SCUBA diver, David holds NAUI Master, IANTD Trimix, and NSS-CDS Cave certifications. In 1998, David received the Wakulla Bronze Award from the National Association for Cave Diving for completing over 100 safe cave dives.
