Jason E. Barkeloo

Jason E. Barkeloo has over twenty years of experience as a technology entrepreneur, researcher, investor, and educator. Prior to founding Somatic Digital, LLC, he founded TouchSmart Publishing LLC, an education supplement provider. Earlier, he was the founder and currently the Director of Research for DiscoverTek, a consulting practice studying and investing in Internet and e-commerce security, privacy, digital rights management (DRM), and biotechnology firms.
Early in his career, Jason served in US Army air defense operations and intelligence positions. He completed his military career as a medical operations officer managing medical facilities and serving as the operations officer for a medical research laboratory.
Later, he applied his background to providing private sector medical operations and acquisition consulting services. As a medical industry consultant he was involved in practice valuation, deal structuring and negotiations, execution of due diligence, and marketing deals to banks and public lenders. He also arranged the financing package, directing the debt-structuring plan, developing the public and private loan package, and reviewing stock and real estate purchase agreements. Jason also founded a commercial real estate venture managing and renovating properties.
More recently, Jason served as a Department of Defense (DoD) Troops-to-Teachers science educator. He received national recognition and awards for teaching, in part because he developed and applied an innovative prescriptive content delivery system that helped students learn.
Jason holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in anthropology and education with certifications in biological sciences and social studies. He held a variety of education positions, from high school science instructor and department chair to adjunct college instructor.
With published articles, Jason frequently speaks on the convergence of print and digital media to inclusively meet individual needs through universal design with a focus on human-computer interfaces.
He is a member of the SIIA, ACM, AEP, and IEEE.
